The Client

Switch is a technology company that designs and builds high-impact digital solutions for organizations across the Americas. The company combines software engineering, cloud expertise, and Generative AI capabilities to help businesses improve operational efficiency, accelerate innovation, and scale their digital products. 

The Challenge

With distributed teams and multiple projects running simultaneously, Switch relies on Odoo as its central platform for project management, expense tracking, and time registration, among other uses. However, everyday interactions with the platform equired multiple steps and frequent context switching. This created unnecessary administrative friction, slowed execution, and led to inconsistencies in data recording.

Over time, these inefficiencies affected operational visibility and introduced financial risks, including inaccurate billing, misallocated costs, and reduced clarity in project profitability.

As the organization scaled, improving operational efficiency and user experience within this system became a strategic priority.

The Solution

To address these challenges, Switch developed AlpOdoo, a natural language interface designed to simplify how teams interact with Odoo. Instead of navigating multiple screens and manually completing several steps, employees can now perform common actions—such as logging hours, checking project information, or generating reports—by simply writing commands in Slack.

The solution leverages Generative AI on AWS, using large language models to understand user intent expressed in natural language and translate it into structured actions within the Odoo environment. A secure middleware layer connects the conversational interface with Odoo’s business logic, enabling the system to execute operations such as timesheet entries, project queries, or expense management without requiring users to interact directly with the ERP interface.

By combining conversational AI, secure authentication, and cloud-native services on AWS, AlpOdoo acts as an intelligent operational assistant that simplifies workflows, reduces manual steps, and guides users through common tasks.

Beyond basic commands, the system also supports contextual understanding and automation, such as weekly summaries of logged hours and intelligent document extraction for expense reporting. 

The Results

The implementation delivered measurable improvements in efficiency and user experience.

The initiative reduced administrative burden, improved data consistency, and increased adoption of time registration processes across the organization—strengthening both operational visibility and financial accuracy.

The project confirms that even with a limited scope (time entry and consultation only), the initiative generates substantial recurring operational savings and measurable productivity improvements.
